Jane's installations are often an expression of disconnect, often culminating from extended experimentation in other media and prolonged research/assimilation of a particular issue. Her installations are typically an expression of ideas that she believes cannot be adequately expressed in 2D.
Jane believes memory is an integral part of connection and that, in disconnect, memory provokes human frailty. Her installations often allude to historical parallels or connections.
"My installation ideas just suddenly come to me, sometimes I am just playing around with a material and it connects to an idea or subject I have been thinking about for some time. It often incorporates multiple ideas condensed into a single imagery.
For most installations I am following a repetitive process to complete the work, for example winding yarn, finger knitting, winding thread or cable or gluing hundreds of circles of fishing line, so I am definitely a process artist."
